Dr. Randy Freeman is a physician and child & adolescent trained psychiatrist in East Providence, Rhode Island. He works with children, adolescents, adults, & families. Many of Dr. Freeman’s families seek help to understand their child’s struggles, emotions or behaviors. Dr. Freeman is passionate about helping patients and families see each other’s perspective and work together to grow as a family.
Dr. Freeman has training in the diagnosis and treatment of all psychiatric disorders. Treatment options include therapy (CBT, DBT, Family therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy), mindfulness, meditation, and medication management. Dr. Freeman is a firm believer that learning mindfulness practices can help patients and families better manage stress and achieve greater focus.
Dr. Freeman is also the first psychiatrist and currently only psychiatrist in Rhode Island offering IV or IM ketamine as a medical procedure and treatment for a variety of mental health disorders and chronic pain.
Dr. Freeman received his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Music from the University of Tulsa, he went to medical school at Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, he then trained in General Psychiatry at the University of Oklahoma. While in residency, he was the first Psychiatrist to complete a LEND Fellowship (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities). He then did his fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Maine Medical Center and took his first job at Brown and Bradley Hospital at the Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities. He went on to start a private practice initial service Children and Adults with Autism then from a need to treat a patient with treatment resistant depression developed the states first IV ketamine infusion clinic.
